Indy Metropolitan Military Honor Guard – 2

Indy Metropolitan Military Honor Guard

HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED!

IMMHG HISTORY

This team was formed in 2014 as we recognized a growing need for Military Honor Guard services in the Indianapolis Metropolitan area. The Fifteen Charter Members of this group had been actively conducting military honors programs through other funeral honors organizations within the Indianapolis area for over 30 years.  We were initially members of the Marion County Veterans Burial Team when they saw the need to expand their activities and services in the community. As previously stated, they desired to perform military honors consistent with the example set forth by other honors groups at national and local levels similar to services at  Arlington National Cemetery, Marion National Cemetery, and the newly created Crown Hill National Cemetery in Marion County. We are recognized as an authorized provider in the Military Funeral Honors Program by the Department of Defense and the Indiana Army National Guard.

We have been declared by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  We are primarily a voluntarily staffed group.  We provide all services without charge and rely on donations and honorariums to defray expenses which we carefully control.  Amounts we receive more than our operating expenses are donated periodically to veteran-related organizations.  Most of the current members belong to one or more local veterans organizations such as American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars, but such membership is not required.

Military Honors are provided at the request of a Funeral Director (see Funeral Director Information tab) or a family member (see Memorial Service Information tab) on our main Menu Page.   Organizations and service groups may select the Color Guard Information tab to request Color Guard services. There are associated fees relevant to IMMHG providing Color Guard services as noted on the menu.
