MEMORIAL REQUEST INFORMATION
A Memorial Service is designed to allow the family or individuals who do not have a Funeral Home to complete the paperwork which will allow IMMHG to perform military honors for their loved one. Please follow the instructional information listed below. Once you are ready to complete the form, please select the tab Memorial Services Request Form on the Menu, complete the required information, and submit.
IMMHG is a Not for Profit 501(c)(3) Organization that provides Military style funeral services at Funeral Homes, Cemeteries, and assorted venues in Marion and surrounding local counties. We seek to provide these services at NO COST to families, however, donations and honorariums from family members are gratefully accepted to cover team logistics such as uniforms, transportation costs, and other associated expenses.
There are a few things that you will need to obtain before your submission –
- a scanned or photographed copy of the Honorably Discharged Veteran’s DD214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).
- a scanned copy or a link to the Veteran’s obituary (if available).
- a burial flag that can be provided upon request from the funeral home that prepared the body or you can go to your nearest post office with a copy of the deceased’s DD214 and they will give you a burial flag at no charge.
- You will need to contact the individual who is in charge at your selected location to confirm it is permissable to fire weapons during the rifle salute. (Note: if that is not authorized, IMMHG can still do a Memorial Service. We can play Taps and fold the flag, which is then presented to the designated individual.
Once you submit the form you will receive an email letting you know the service has been sent to the IMMHG Scheduler and the request will be added to our schedule. Soon after, you will receive an email letting you know who the Mission Commander is and who to contact with further questions.
